A Lifelong Commitment to Dhamma and Community
Luang Phor Phat Punyakamo, born on May 12, 1922, in Ban Sra Thale, Nakhon Sawan Province, was one of Thailand’s most respected Buddhist monks. Ordained in 1946 at Wat Sra Thale, he dedicated over 77 years to the monastic path, passing away peacefully on November 24, 2023, at the age of 101.
His monastic name Punyakamo, meaning “one who pursues merit,” reflected his lifelong devotion to meditation, ethical practice, and public service. Trained by legendary masters such as Luang Pu Derm, Luang Pu In, Luang Pu Muek, and Luang Pu Mode, he inherited powerful lineages of spiritual protection, metta (loving-kindness), and Thai mystical arts.
Sacred Amulets and Charitable Purpose
Luang Phor Phat became widely known for creating sacred amulets and blessed coins, which are believed to provide:
-
Strong protection against spiritual harm and danger
-
Attraction of good fortune, popularity, and business success
-
Spiritual merit and blessings for the wearer and their family
-
Support in personal growth and peace of mind
These sacred items, always created with sincere intention, were used to raise funds for public good—rebuilding temples, supporting schools and hospitals, and offering scholarships to underprivileged students. His most sought-after items include:
-
Rian (medal) amulets bearing his image
-
Takrut charms for invincibility and charisma
-
Limited consecrated sets for major occasions
Service, Recognition, and Spiritual Authority
In the 1970s, LP Phat was invited to Wat Tharn Thahan (Wat Huai Duan) to lead its restoration. In 2021, at 99 years old, he was formally appointed abbot of the temple and was awarded a royal fan to commemorate the King’s coronation—a rare honor given to monks of exceptional service.
Despite a minor controversy regarding temple funds in 2021, which was legally resolved, Luang Phor Phat remained respected for his integrity, humility, and unwavering dedication to Buddhism and Thai society.
A Lasting Legacy of Merit and Inspiration
Luang Phor Phat’s life is remembered as a shining example of faith, compassion, and pure intention. His teachings, blessings, and sacred objects continue to inspire and protect devotees across Thailand and beyond.
Owning one of his amulets is not only a spiritual tool—it’s a connection to a life lived in full dedication to merit-making and compassion.
